Colonial
Research Steel Traps
Gather 400 Wood Crates with a Settler Wagon
Build 2 houses
Research the 2nd Gold Upgrade
Ship 3 Settler Wagons (Send 2 of these Settler Wagons to food, and 1 to coin)
Keep training villagers from your TC until you have enough resources to age, TC waypoint should be on food
Begin aging with The Marksman (6 Skirmishers) Ship 700 wood third, raid with the 2 Uhlans you get from this shipment
With the 700 wood, build 7 houses, or 4 houses and a Trading Post. Only build the Trading Post if you feel you’re going to need a shipment in Fortress. But make sure you build these, you’re going to need the experience from the houses for your shipments.
Transition
This is the time that you’re in the most danger, be ready for raids and attacks. Unless your TC’s in real danger of being destroyed, do not call minutemen until you age. 6 Skirmishers and 6 minutemen plus your TC fire can deal with a lot.
Now if you really feel your opponent will kill you before you can pull this off, you’re going to need to make some adjustments, you can ship any military shipment that you think can deal with this attack. However, if it’s going to be a mercenary shipment, make sure that as soon as your transition to Fortress starts you switch those 2 Settler Wagons you have on food to coin. If you’re not going to be shipping a mercenary shipment, keep all of your villagers where they are.
Fortress
Unless you’re opponent is attacking you with a force strong enough to kill you, don’t ship anything.
Keep up villager production until you have enough resources to age.
Age with 1000 coin.
Transition
Research Gang Saw (1st Wood Upgrade)
Switch about 4 villagers to wood
Switch the rest of your villagers to coin, but leave 2 or 3 on food for villager production
Raid with any Uhlans you might have
Industrial
Gather the 1000 coin crates
Ship whichever Mercenary Army you feel can deal with your opponents military
As soon as that 1000 coin is gathered, your TC is irrelevant, if your opponent is going to kill it just build an outpost for your shipment(s) before it is destroyed, buy wood if you need to.
If your TC is still alive, continue villager production, put new vills onto a coin mine somewhere.
As soon as your first mercenary shipment arrives, begin poking and prodding. At this point you might not be able to kill your opponent just yet, but it never hurts to test the waters. Once your second mercenary shipment arrives, push into their base, but do not overextend yourself. You don’t want all of your mercs to get killed (not that that’s likely).
Good luck and have fun!
Notes:
Be careful of where you’re mining, keep an open eye for raids.
If you didn’t build a Trading Post, you have the option of building a church and getting the Mercantilism upgrade if you have the coin, this should give you 2 - 3 more shipments.
Get the line of sight upgrades as well while you’re at it, they cost food, and you can definitely spare some food for this, it helps to prevent raids and just gives you a nice advantage.
If you don’t have the coin for a mercenary army, ship the 10 Winged Hussars, they’re free already upgraded units, can definitely be put to good use.
If at anytime you are housed while you are in Industrial, don’t hesitate to buy some wood and build house or two.
Hackapells are amazing raiders, they 2 hit villagers.
