Cards needed: 3 vills, 700 wood, 600 wood, 5 vills, 4 vills, 6 rods, 6 rods, 8 pikes, hand infantry hitpoints
DISCOVERY
Starting Crates:
2 Wood Crates: Build a market + house, gather 50 wood/coin, research hunting dogs
1 Wood Crate, 1 Coin Crate: Build a market, gather 50 wood/75 coin, buy 100 wood for a house, research hunting dogs
1 Wood Crate: Build a house
(plagiarizing Alaron)
Herd hunts towards TC. Go for early treasures to aid in market and also kill guardians for xp so as to send the three villager card as fast as possible (if you get an early 80xp treasure, the three villager shipment will arive early enough to gather an additional 50 food ). Age with 16 villager population using the 500 food politition.
TRANSITION
Gather 100 food for queuing the first villager. Put 4 vills on coin until you gather 125 coin and then put the rest of your vills on wood. Try to gather 600+ wood and the rest of your vills can go on food. If you want to forward base send two vills in a location nearby enemy resources but out of LOS.
COLONIAL
Build two baracks, one with each villager and instantly research steel traps. Send 700 wood instantly as well and gather your food crate with 2 vills. The next card will be soon to arive and send 600 wood, most likely queuing it behind the 700 wood. When your baracks build, queue one crossbow on each and when the 700 wood arives, gather it quickly and build a house and get the 10 crossbows out. You should pressure your opponent's villagers with the crossbows. As the wood crates are ariving try to have 5 vills chopping wood, 2 vills gathering wood crates and the rest hunting. After 700 wood and 600 wood are sent, send 5 vills are 4 vills and distribute them accordingly with wood and food. Be careful not to get housed. At this point you should be pressuring your opponent and possibly sieging down buildings with your pikes as they pop out. After the vill cards are sent you can send the 6 rods and the pike cards so that you can make nothing but crossbows at your baracks.
If this does not finish your opponent then you may put vills on coin and make a stable for hussars or rods from your baracks. Also you may ship the missionary card and make them. Spain is very powerful late age two. Do not feel like you need to age.
TIPS
1.) If your opponent is making a bunch of light infantry units you can use wardogs, which have 18 attack age two, to attack them.
2.) If your opponent is making pure infantry and does not have a stable then it is ok to use some of your pikes in the front lines on cover mode to soak damage.
3.) The hand infantry hitpoints card will provide your pikes with a 15% hitpoint boost and your rods with a 20% hitpoint boost which will allow them to soak much more damage and protect your crossbows as well as siege for longer.
4.) Scout your enemy. Be sure whether or not you should forward base. Forward base if you believe you will produce units faster than your opponent, like if you play against Sioux. If you are playing against a fast civ with a powerful musket hussar like Britain or France be warry of forward basing though do not rule it out.
5.) You can put up a third or fourth barracks if you have the resources late age two. You will probably run out of nearby hunts if you do this, but this strategy should grant you map control in which case you can hunt in more danagerous places. You can afford outposts. Consider using them.
