I am guessing that it is possible to make civs like malta playable in future patches, although America might work better because it has Imperial age units. I think it could be fun to make just one of these civs playable in the next patch, but I am guessing that this would be a lot of work and would also mess up parts of the campaign. Is anybody else interested by this idea?

You know my opinion. I'd love to have more civilizations than now. Just for fun. Im getting bored of playing the same civs over and over again, so it could be a lot of fun.

I'm not sure I'd be up for coding all of that, let alone balancing all that. AOE is also "hard coded" to only allow 14 "playable civs". You couldn't actually create the campaign civs without using text edit. Also note that "Pirates" "The Circle" "Native Americans" while you can create the civs and see the flags, they will revert back to their base civ (which ever base civ you set them to) after 1-2 games playing them. For example the circle is set as base civ british and will eventually revert and return to that flag after only a few games.
